Metahouse: Noise‐Insulating Chamber Based on Periodic Structures

Noise pollution remains a challenging problem requiring the development of novel systems for noise insulation. Extensive work in field acoustic metamaterials has led to various ventilated structures which, however, are usually demonstrated rather narrow regions audible spectrum. In this work, idea metamaterial-based is further extended, developing concept metahouse chamber representing structure multiple band Broad stop-bands originate from strong coupling between pairs Helmholtz resonators constituting structure. The averaged transmission −18.6 dB numerically and experimentally within spectral range 1500 16 500 Hz. sparseness together with possibility use optically transparent materials suggest that may be also characterized by partial optical transparency depending on mutual position structural elements. obtained results promising noise-insulating advancing urban science.
